The One who determines and creates according to the proper measure and proportion of each thing. The One who plans and determines how, when and where to create.
The One whose works are perfectly suited, appropriate, fitting and proper. The One who creates something from nothing. The One who creates both the inner and the outer in just proportions.
The One who brings things into existence from a state of non-existence. The One who has the power to change things back and forth between the states of existing and non-existing.
From the root kh-l-q which has the following classical Arabic connotations:
to measure accurately to determine the proper measure or proportion for something
to proportion one thing according to another to create something based on a pattern or model which one has devised to bring a thing into existence from non-existenceThis name is used in the Qur’ān. For example, see 59:24

Artist Bio

Using a variety of mediums, Somani creates images rich in color, with vivid
brushstrokes that adds texture and depth, juxtaposed by finer lines and forms
that lend a sense of sophistication and grace to the overall effect. His  compositions are powerful, suffusing each image with passion and emotion that connect with viewers in potent ways.
Somani’s background and culture have had a major impact on his work, as he  uses a wide range of art mediums to reflect the geometrical patterns that are a  hallmark of Islamic art. The art of calligraphy is a major influence, adding an  entirely new level of form and elegant beauty to each piece. Across his body of  work, Somani achieves a fascinating blend of East and West, contemporary and  tradition, creating images that “connect people of all walks of life.”
Fahim Somani is a self-taught artist inspired by Islamic art and calligraphy  who resides in Houston, Texas. Although he never received formal education  his passion towards painting and calligraphy helped him master these skills as  well as guided him to pursue other forms of art.
Somani was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan ​and being born in an Islamic  country, the artist found inspiration of beautiful writing & images from the  extra ordinary Islamic architecture, which truly connects the east to the west.
Somani continued working on various institutions and individual  projects in the following years which allowed him to explore his style and refine his palette. In order to explore more and expand his knowledge base, Somani  started taking classes at Glassell School of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts,
2016, Somani was approached to ​design the first Fanous for Jubilee Games  and also helped with it’s fabrication process.
Recently, Somani had been working closely for Jubilee Arts as the Exhibition Senior Manager for the International Art Gallery. Somani worked on identifying the categories for all mediums and disciplines, drafting guidelines for the  International Art Gallery, designing the exhibition space such as walk flow  (internal & external) and graphics (signs, banners, artwork artist labels) and helped with securing related gallery elements.
